WhatsApp users on iOS and Android are griping of battery drain issues on their phones after installing the most recent version of the app. WABetaInfo tweeted that the most recent WhatsApp for iPhone version 2.19.112 increases the background action of the app, which brings about battery drain issues.
“Some users are experiencing battery drain using WhatsApp for iOS 2.19.112. In particular, Battery Usage reports a high usage of the app in background,” WABetaInfo said. Various users took to Twitter to report the same problem.

Some also posted screenshots that uncovered significantly higher background activity time when contrasted with its on-screen time. Such as, sometimes, WhatsApp spent a little more than five hours of battery out of which near four hours was dedicated to background activity. Screenshots posted by a client show near 11 hours of background activity by WhatsApp.
For Android, the issue appeared to have become exposed after updating to WhatsApp for Android form 2.19.308 and this was called attention to my clients on Google Play, Reddit, just as official OnePlus forum. This incorporates clients of OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 5, Xiaomi, Samsung S10e, just as Google Pixel phones. Even though the battery drain is by all accounts influencing significantly more people, WhatsApp has not released an official explanation on the issue up until now.
In its most recent update for Android and iOS, WhatsApp introduced another setting and invite system for Groups, where if an admin who can’t add you to groups is attempting to include you, they will be provoked to send you a private invitation through an individual chat, which will enable you to join the group if you need to.
- The feature can be enabled from Settings > Account > Privacy > Groups, where they will be asked to choose between three options: “Everyone,” “My Contacts,” or “My Contacts Except.”
- The update essentially replaces the “Nobody” option with “My Contacts Except…”, which the company accepts will enable clients to have more command over the group messages they get.
