The covid-19 lockdown in Odisha will be extended till April 30, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared today. The decision for the extension of the lockdown was declared after the state bureau meeting through video conference. Odisha is the first state to extend the lockdown in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s video conference to discuss the lockdown extension.
Odisha Is the First State to Extend the Lockdown Till 30th April
Patnaik likewise mentioned the Center not to continue train and air services till April 30. Schools and educational organizations would stay shut till June 17, he tweeted with a video message.
As indicated by Union health ministry information, Odisha has revealed 42 affirmed Covid-19 cases up until now. One person has died in the state due to coronavirus illness.
The across the nation lockdown was proclaimed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24 to break the chain of coronavirus transmission and it was scheduled to be lifted on April 15.
“Odisha cabinet decides for extension and also recommends to union government to do the same,” the state government said in a statement.
“Coronavirus is the biggest threat that the human race has faced in more than a century. Life will not be the same ever. All of us must understand this and face it boldly together. With our sacrifice and with the blessing of Lord Jagannath, this too shall pass,” Mr Patnaik said in the statement.
“Educational institutions will remain closed till June 17. Food security of people is of outmost importance. Agriculture, animal husbandry, MGNREGS related activities to be facilitated following social distancing norms,” the state government said. “As earlier, free movement of goods transport will be allowed,” it said.
