Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections going on today for 68 Assembly seats. 337 candidates were competing in the Himachal Pradesh elections. While the BJP is feeling confident in the elections. The destiny of 337 applicants will be chosen by more than 50,25,941 voters, including 19 lakh ladies and 14 transgenders. Voting started at 8 am and will go ahead till 5 pm. Counting of votes will be hung on December 18.

Virbhadra Singh, Shanta Kumar, JP Nadda, and PK Dhumal are among the top candidates who are competing in Himachal elections 2018. Virbhadra has officially declared that this will be his last election. While the Dhumal-drove BJP and the Virbhadra-drove Congress are challenging each of the 68 seats, the BSP is battling on 42 seats. CPI-M will handle hopefuls on 14 seats, Swabhiman Party and Lok Gathbandhan Party on 6 each and the CPI on 3.
VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines are being used for the 1st time for this election and 10 % of aggregate EVMs and VVPATs have been kept for possible later use. A totl of 11,500 Himachal Pradesh police jawans, 6400 home guards have been sent over the state on election duty. Sixty-five organizations of paramilitary powers have also been positioned for security, said Himachal Pradesh DGP Somesh Goyal.
