Due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu the schools in Puducherry, Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvalluvar were consequently declared holiday on 6th day. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that the heavy rains will continue in isolated places and forest places across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The reports specify that Tamil Nadu is still having the spell of heavy rains in Chennai and other regions across it. It was expected that the heavy rains may continue till Wednesday. The Chennai and TN Rain report has confirmed the news that the rains will become heavy in isolated and forest areas in next 48 hours.
Puducherry kept on being lashed by substantial rains with government officials announcing holiday for all schools in the area today. The Union Territory recorded 10.2 cm precipitation finishing 8.30 AM, an official source said. There was a delay in declaration of holiday for schools a source in the Directorate of Education said including revenue authorities made the announcement first practically shocking the Education department. Students reportedly turned up at the institutions as regular and came to know about the holiday just upon arriving, parents said.
