The official Twitter records of Facebook and its informing application Messenger were hacked and the cybercriminals posted messages from both the stages.
Facebook’s Twitter, Instagram Accounts Hacked
The programmers also incidentally assumed control over Facebook’s accounts on Instagram through an outsider stage and posted a photograph of the hackers’ group.
“Hi, we are O u r M i n e. Well, even Facebook is hackable but at least their security better than Twitter,” posted the hackers.
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed to POLITICO the accounts “were hacked through a third-party platform”.
Twitter declined to name the outsider stage, however, a screenshot of the tweets show that the posts originated from social media management tool Khoros, as per the reports.
Khoros is a web service used by digital marketing and PR departments to oversee social media accounts and is associated with an online life account as an outsider app.
“As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised accounts and are working closely with our partners at Facebook to restore them,” the spokesperson added.
The hacker group OurMine commandeered in the past Twitter accounts of in excess of twelve NFL groups in January before the SuperBowl.
The same group has also compromised Twitter accounts of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
The group has been active since 2016 and is accepted to comprise of a few Saudi teenagers.
In a statement, a Facebook spokesperson said, “Some of our corporate social accounts were briefly hacked but we have secured and restored access.”
