Mahindra, Maruti offer discounts on cars after BS-III vehicles ban
The Supreme Court of India banned the sale of BS-III vehicles in India from April 1, 2017 and in a bid to clear the inventory of existing BS-III vehicles, major automakers including Mahindra, Maruti and Honda started offering massive discounts on March 30 and March 31.
Mahindra and Mahindra started offering huge discount on its leading models including Bolero, Scorpio Getaway and the Thar SUV’s. The company offered discount of Rs 90,000 on BS- III Mahindra Bolero DI, Thar DI and Scorpio Getaway and the discount is valid till today and at selected dealership.
Scorpio Getaway, which is the most popular model from Mahindra is priced between Rs 8.96 lakh to Rs 9.95 lakh after the BS-III engine ban in India. Mahindra Thar is also being offered with a discount of Rs 76,000.
After the ban of Bs-III vehicles even foreign automakers started offering huge discounts. Volkswagen offered a flat 10 per cent discount on its leading model the Polo hatchback and the Vento sedan.
Honda also joined the bandwagon to offer discounts on Brio hatch back (Rs 15,000 off), the Amaze (Rs 93,000) and Jazz (Rs 20,000).
Maruti being an affordable brand in India for middle class family has offered a discount of Rs 20,000 on Alto, WagonR and few more popular models to spree their inventory.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the manufacturers have a total stock of 8,24,275 BS-III-compliant vehicles.
