Hyundai i20 has received a facelift in the form of a two-tone option – Passion Red and Polar White with black roof.

The two-tone option has only been made available for i20’s top model Asta. The new i20 has also got updated with a new orange ascent color in the interior. The new i20 also got Blue color model, which is popular for the premium entry level hatchback.

The two-tone color option was first introduced by Maruti Suzuki in India and was popularized in its Vitara Brezza model. There have been instances wherein i20 drivers have gone ahead and crated a two-tone i20 for themselves, but now Hyundai is offering the option right out of the box.

The new 2017 i20 has same engine options which includes the 1.2 Kappa dual VTVT petrol paired with a five-speed manual generating 82bhp power at 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 115Nm at 4000 rpm, a 1.4 dual VTVT petrol with four-speed automatic generating 99bhp at 6000 rpm with maximum torque of 132Nm at 4000 rpm.

The diesel engine is a 1.4 litre, 4-cylinder, CRDi turbo diesel engine that makes 89 bhp and 220 Nm of torque. The diesel engine only gets a 6-speed manual gearbox and no automatic. Fuel economy or mileage for the i20 diesel is 22.54 kmpl.

The new 2017 Hyundai i20 gets its interior updated with the 7.0-inch touchscreen AVN system now available from the Asta trim level with the addition of Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity. With the update in the interior there are some features of i20 that were missing in the Asta trim which includes push button start, alloy wheels (dual-tone variant gets diamond-cut alloys), auto up-down function for the driver window and rear washer and wiper.

The Sportz trim of i20 now misses out on equipment such as a reverse camera, auto climate control and tilt and telescopic adjust for the steering.

Hyundai has introduced a new trim of i20 which will come before Magna trim and will be called as Magna Executive trim. But this new trim also misses out some basic features like the steering-mounted controls, Bluetooth connectivity for the audio system, keyless entry and rear parcel tray. Additionally, the standard Magna variant is only available as an automatic.

Hyundai i20 Elite is likely to compete with the Maruti Baleno, the Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo which are the best cars in the segment and it would be very hard for Hyundai to compete with these in.
