Good part is this self funded promotion has helped connect the smaller regions to mainstream India. Now people are aware that Assam and the North East have talented professionals. Though the national government did not do much in terms of funding and improving the areas, the self funded endeavors indirectly helped bring in a sort of recognition of existence for people in distant parts of India.

Assam State Transport corporation bus (AS-01-9584) was headed for Silchar from Dharmanagar.The onlookers reported that there was another private bus that was following this ASTC bus. Both the buses were speeding to pick up more passengers. After crossing the substation, the ASTC bus lost its control when it tried to steer away from a big hole on the road and toppled down to a plain grond 15 feet off the road. The onlookers came to the rescue of the injured people after hearing their screams for help.

The injured passengers were sent to Kalinagar Sarojini hospital, Srigouri hospital, and Panchgram paper mill hospital. Sixteen patients among them were in serious condition and the victims have been sent to Silchar Medical College Hospital for treatment.

These victims are Kushai Das(6),Sabita Das(8),and Satya Bala Das (50) from Silchar Kalibari char,Harendra Chandra Das(36) from Badarpur, Pinky Dey (22) and Sharmi Day (23) from Kali Nagar, Sunanda Dutta (21) from Katakhal,Pompy ghosh (22), Pinky das Gupta (21) from Panchgram, Bijoy kumar Deb (36) from Dharma Nagar,Naya Para, Apu Goswami (34) from Jail Road,Dharma Nagar, SukhLal das( 60) from Srikona first block, Abdul Munim Tapadar (46)from Jallalpore, Debashish Debnath (15) from AshikTilla, Dharma Nagar, Deepankar Namahshudra (41) from Karimganj, and Sabuj Paul (35) from Tarapur, Silchar. Both the bus conductor and the driver are absconding after the incident.

Manik Uddin Barbhuiya who was a resident of Krishnapur Village, LalaBazar was on his way home when he was struck by a thunderbolt in the market place resulting in his immediate death.

Jaynul who is a resident of Rangpur sixth Block was admitted into Lala Hospital in an unconscious state after being thunder-struck on Saturday.He regained his consciousness but the thunder damaged his eardrums thereby rendering him deaf.

Rickshaw puller Manik Uddin Laskar was asleep when the lightning struck the house in which he was staying at 9 o clock in the night on Saturday. The house was damaged partially by lightning and Manik Uddin sustained injuries on the right side of his body.He was released from the Katlicherra primary health care center since he was out of danger.

The deadbody of Manik Uddin Barbhuiya was interred on Sunday morning at 11 am.The grievous news of the untimely death of a fellow Muslim in the month of Ramadan left the whole area mournful.

It was reported that Babu started displaying eccentric behaviour fifteen days back. Manoj, Santosh, Manindra and Amulya started publicising that Babu has been possessed by Lord Shiva and a big ‘Yagna’ ceremony was started in Babu’s residence in Krishnanagar. The villagers started flocking Babu’s house to get a glimpse of Lord Shiva. Within a few days, Neelima, Jaya and Prameela followed Babu’s suit and started acting weirdly.The poor villagers were fooled into believing that these three ladies have been possessed by Goddes Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati respectively.

The awestruck villagers started inviting these pantheon of Gods to consecrate their houses. But, an incident on Friday exposed the whole fraud. The daughter of Dilip Sinha from patiala went to seek blessings from these Gods and Goddesses and fell ill after consuming the ‘prasad’ offered by Goddess Durga alias Neelima Sinha.The three Goddesses paid a Visit to Mr. Dilip Sinha’s house on Saturday evening to claim that the girl has been possessed by another Goddess.

Mr. Sinha smelled a rat and got them arrested by the police. After that they were taken to the hospital. It was found out after investigation, that all four of them consumed drugs like marijuana or cannabis(Ganja) and hashish which resulted in their eccentric behaviour. It has come to light that Babu Sinha has exploited many female followers in the plea of blessing them. A blue Film racket is suspected behind this trickery. The case is being investigated by the police and the truth will soon be revealed.

The victim named Sabita Endow filed a report in Silchar police station on Sunday. Ms. Endow informed police that she withdrew Rs 7,000 on 30th August. She couldn’t find her card when she wanted to withdraw more money on 12th of September. The enquiry in the bank accout revealed that her ATM card was used a few times to withdraw a sum of 24,500 leaving only Rs 82 in her account.

The police commenced an investigation in this matter. It is being guessed that either somebody very close to Ms Sabita Endow committed the theft or somebody who was there in the counter on 30th of August found out her PIN by deceit and later stole the card. This is only a conjecture and the police is hoping to capture the thief soon.

Some voluntary orgaisations including the ‘Agragami club’ of Shonai announced a ‘road block’ on 21 st of August when numerous memoranda provided to the district administration were ignored.

The patch spanning from Rangerkhari to Nagatilla is in horrible condition.The potholes are creating difficulty in transportation. The DC summoned the BRTF authorities on Tuesday to discuss the sorry state of affairs. In the meeting BRTF authorities revealed that land has been requisitioned from Kashipur and Badripar first and second block for the construction of the national Highway no 53. It was pointed out that work is progressing well.

The Deputy commandant of BRTF as well as the Municipal Commissioner of Silchar were present in the meeting. The organisations staging the ‘Road Block’ refused to call it off unless they are given a written commitment from the DC.

Seetu paul boarded a boat on Sunday from shilkuri to go to Rajpur.Unfortunately,the boat capsized in the middle of the Chatla Haor.Ganesh Das,the rower,swam ashore but Seetu paul got drowned.The body was found the next day.

The police reached the spot after getting information and sent the body to Silchar Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination following which the dead body was given back to the family members.
