The film has been slammed for its blatant toxic masculinity and violent approach towards ladies.
A popular critic Ananya Bhattacharya gave the film 1.5 out of 5 stars and wrote, “The women in Kabir Singh are beaten, kissed without consent, forced to take off their pants at knifepoint, slapped and treated like street dogs. Strike that. Kabir Singh’s dog gets a meatier role and better treatment than his women in this mess of a film.”
However, Shahid’s mother Neelima Azeem and his brother Ishaan Khatter have defended the film ferociously and same that it simply smart cinema and other people ought to appreciate it.
Before the film’s release, Shahid unconcealed the number of preparation he had to bear for the role. He said that he had to place on 8kg and grow a beard so lose 14kg.
