The Government of India has extended the GST Returns filing date for another 10 days. That is the Goods and Service Tax returns can be filed before 10th January 2018. Earlier, the Government of India has announced that the GSTR-1 final sales filing date as 31st December 2017. While the Government has come up with revising this date and extending further to 10th January 2018. As per reports, 1.5 Cr GSTR-1 for July – September is yet to be filed. Hence the Government had taken the decision to extend the date.
Government Extended GST Returns Filing Deadline Till 10th January 2018
The GSTR-1 has to be filed for turnover more than 1.5 Cr for the period of July – November. The Government had announced considering the time period July -October the GST had to be filed by 31st March. Now, the GSTR-1 filing date has been moved to further date to providing another chance to the business people.
Prior these organizations were required to file GSTR-1 return for July-October by December 31 and that for November by January 10. For the long extension of December, GSTR-1 is to be filed by February 10 and for consequent months, it would be 10th of January.
The GST Council had in November permitted organizations with turnover of up to Rs. 1.5 crore to record GST returns GSTR-1 quarterly. Organizations with turnover of up to Rs. 1.5 crore should record returns by February 15 for the period October-December and that for January-March by April 30. Hence the people who do not file the GSTR-1 yet can file with GST Council till 10th January 2017.
