64th National awards have been declared! Sonam Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Shoojit Sircar and Marathi film director Rajesh Mapuskar have received highest accolades.

‘Neerja’ was declared the Best Hindi Film of 2016 while Akshay Kumar received the Best Actor award for ‘Rustom’. Zaira Wasim who played younger Geeta in ‘Dangal’, won best supporting actress.

Akshay Kumar won his first national award and overwhelmed by this he told his fans via video message that to be able to put on the uniform of Indian Navy itself is a huge honour. Twinkle Khanna tweeted her heartfelt wishes for her husband.

Sonam Kapoor received a special mention for her role in Neerja said that she didn’t expect the critics award, it is such an honour to receive it.

Rajesh Mapuskar, who received best director for Ventilator thanked Priyanka Chopra and her mother Madhu Chopra for believing in the film and he feels giddy because Ventilator won three national awards.

Shoojit Sircar being the creative producer of Pink feels responsible now as the jury recognized the effort. Tapsee Pannu shared her feelings by saying that this win validated her faith in Pink.
