The 2017 Audi A3 has been launched in India with a facelift with a starting price of ₹ 30.5 lakh for the petrol variant of the sedan.

The diesel variant of the new 2017 Audi A3 will cost Rs 32.30 lakh. Consumers have the option of choosing from two variants – the A3 Premium Plus with prices ranging from Rs 30.5 – 32.3 lakh, and the A3 Technology with prices ranging from Rs 34.25 – 35.8 lakh.

The new 2017 Audi A3 has replaced its old 1.8-litre TFSI engine with a new 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine. It is the same unit that does duty on the new-gen Audi A4 and even the Q3 generating 148 bhp and develops 250 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed S-tronic automatic gearbox.

New Audi A3 has the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 139 bhp and develops 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine has been mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox for the diesel engine.

The new and updated 2017 Audi A3 has stylish exterior design which includes a larger hexagonal grille, new LED headlamps (optional, standard version gets Bi-xenon lights) and sharper LED daytime running lights. It also gets a revised front bumper with larger air intakes with two small chrome trim pieces and some prominent lines on the bonnet. The rear has been updated with a new bumper and a new tail lamp cluster, which now features a refreshed LED lighting pattern.

The interior of the new Audi A3 gets a wireless phone charger in one of the cubby holes (for select phones) but misses out on a start-stop button, which for us is a big miss. There is a bad news for Indian customers because the new Audi A3 will not get Audi’s signature virtual cockpit like the international model. Sadly the new Audi A3 misses out Apple CarPlay or Android Auto but you do get navigation and a reverse camera.
