FIFA World Cup 2010: Group G: Heavy weights Brazil and Portugal meet today, while Korea DPR faces Ivory Coast in group finale


Today in group G match, the world no. 1 team will take on no. 3 team after a clinical display in their last matches, with the Samba boys thrashing Ivory Coast 3-1, while Carlos Queiroz’s charges cut loose to register a 7-0 victory over Korea DPR. The match will be of great importance to Portugal, as Brazil has already clinched a spot for the next stage. While the European side needs a win or a tie to advance, or even with a loss, provided Ivory Coast wins, so long as Ivory Coast doesn’t force a tiebreaker with Portugal.



In the other Group G match, African side, Ivory Coast will face Korea DPR. Korea DPR has already been eliminated from the tournament, while the Ivory Coast can advance if they better Portugal’s 7-0 victory over Korea DPR, while requiring Brazil to do them a favour by overcoming the European side. Nine strikes separate Portugal and Ivory Coast in goal difference terms.
