FIFA World Cup 2010: Argentina beats Greece 2-0, advances to next round. Korea Republic Nigeria settles for a 2-2 draw, the Asian team moves to round of 16

Group B’s encounter between Argentina and Greece ended with Argentina winning it 2-0. Both the teams commenced the game well but Argentina dominated the match with 65 % ball possession. Argentine defender, Demichelis, netted the first goal at the 77th minute, while Palermo scored a late goal at the 89th minute to give the side an unbeatable lead against the weak Greeks. The Greeks have been eliminated from the World Cup. Argentina Captain Lionel Messi won the man of the match award.

In the other match of Group B between Nigeria and Korea republic, both the teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw. After starting the second half at 1-1 scoreline, the Asian team took the lead at the 49th minute with a goal by chuyoung. But the Nigerians faught back well and they won a penalty at the 69th minute, which Yakubu successfully converted into a goal, equalising the score. Jisung won the man of the match award.

Argentina advanced to the second stage clinching the top spot. Maradon’s men will face Mexico at Soccer city on Sunday. Korea republic secured the 2nd position in the group and are heading for a last 16 showdown with group A winner Uruguay.
