The group A match between France and Host South Africa came to an end and the Hosts have won it 2-1. While in the other match the Uruguay thrashed the Mexican team 1-0.

The French team started the game well and looked threatening at the early stages. But they managed to score just a goal in reply to the Hosts 2. South African striker Khumalo scored at the 20th minute giving the team 1-0 lead, while at the 37th minute, south african midfielder, Mphela netted the ball, ending the first half 2-0. On the second half, Malouda of France scored the lone consolation goal for France and thus making the scoreline 2-1 in the end. South African Mphela won the Man of the Match award.

In the other game, Mexico had started the game the game well dominating the ball possession, but it was Uruguay who scored the only goal of the match, thus winning it 1-0. Saurez scored for Uruguay at the 43rd minute. Suarez won the man of the match awrad.

Uruguay have gone to the next stage as the Group winner, along with Mexico as Runners up.
