The Group D match between Australia and Ghana came to an end with Australia holding Ghana for a 1-1 draw. It is the 3rd successive 1-1 draw in Rustenburg.

The Socceroos netted an early goal at the 11th minute through Holman. But soon at the 25th min, due to Kewell’s handling the ball inside the box, Ghana won a penalty, which Gyan succesfully converted into goal, equalising the score, which also resulted in Kewell’s red card. The half time score was 1-1. In the second half, both Australia and Ghana played an excellent game with Schwarzer becoming Socceroos Saviour.

Unlike Nigeria, who struggled badly when reduced to 10 men against Greece, The Socceroos have displayed real resolve here in Rustenburg, competing superbly against their African opponent.

A. Gyan won the man of the match. Ghana tops the Group D with 4 points, while Germany and Serbia are sharing the 2nd position in the group with 3 points a piece.
