Germany to stick with youngsters against Serbia

Germany coach Joachim Loew sticks with the young team that thrashed Australia 4-0, for Friday’s Group D clash with Serbia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Serbia made three changes. They brought in Neven Subotic in place of the Aleksandar Lukovic. Zdravko Kuzmanovic will start instead of Nenad Milijas in midfield and Milos Ninkovic was included in the lineup after being left out for the 1-0 defeat by Ghana. Germany, who had 10 shots on target durining last match’s goal frenzy against Australia, are expected to play a more cautious game to contain a determined Serbia team needing a win to stand any real chance of reaching the second round.

Germany tops Group D with 3 points, Even a draw would leave the Germans in excellent shape, as they would probably need to take just a single point in their last match of the round, against Ghana.

Serbia, on the other hand, has it all to do. A victory would put them back in the race for the second round berths. A loss or a tie, however, would leave the door open for Ghana to advance to the next round at Serbia’s expense, should the Africans defeat Australia.
