Vehicle strike in Karimganj

The light commercial vehicle owners and drivers of Karimganj have called for vehicle strike for an indefinite period of time.

A meeting was called at Karimganj Additional Circuit House on the issue of a recent road accident. Local political leaders, respectable citizens and vehicle owners were invited to the meeting but the vehicle drivers were left out. Following a lengthy debate, district magistrate Anurag Goyal announced, “There will be no light vehicle stands inside in the town. The vehicles in the Silchar-Hailakandi route will park near Hailakandi bus-stand.” He added, “The decision will be enforced by the end of this month.” The vehicle owners were not allowed to give their opinions.

Light commercial vehicle owners announced that on Monday they will approach the district magistrate for modifying the decision. If he does not sympathize, they will move ahead with vehicle strike for indefinite period of time.
