23 Bombs— 24 hours—2 cities– Terror at its peak
When Bangalore was shivering after the 8 blasts that rocked the city on 25th July evening people of the IT city had some how reconciled their mind that this time though the terror attacks were of low intensity by some novice outfit and aimed at only terrifying people.
But merely 24 hours after that about 15 odd bombs went off in a sequential manner creating unleashing terror and violence in the land of Gandhiji …Ahmedabad in Gujrat. The banks of Sabarmati were bleeding after nearly 38 people were reported dead and over a hundred suffered major injuries to end up in hospitals.
Even hospitals like the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital was bombed by this terrorist group.Though the bombs were not of very high intensity but the attack was stronger than that of Bangalore the day before. Even after sounding red alert in many parts of the country such an incident goes on to depict the lapses in the intelligence agency.
On 27th July also many bombs were defused by Bomb Squad specialist and people of the NSG have already submitted a report of the happenings to the Home Ministry and the concerned Government Agencies. Home Minister Shivraj Patil in the mean while has asked all the agencies to pool in their resources and get to the bottom of the conspiracy. Also a high level meeting was convened in Delhi late last evening.
The email that took responsibilty of the blast was from a group called the Indian Mujahidden but esperts believe that it is a joint venture of S I M I, H u J I and L e T . And that these names are nothing but misleading clues. Also the email has been tracked to have been sent from a flat in Navi Mumbai’s GUNINA Apartment. An American National the tenant of the flat and the owner Mr. Abhishek Sharma has been detained for questioning. This IP address had been used to send email after the Jaipur blasts in May also.
All big metros of the country are on high alert with Mumbai topping the list and a major crack down on organisations like the S I M I and H u J I are expected. Intelligence agencies and Cyber Crime Specialists though are tight lipped about the entire episode.
The bombs were all trigerred by timer devices and IED and ammonium nitrate has been a common factor in their recipee……
